Depigmentation or Sun Spots Treatment at Westside Laser & Light in SW Calgary

Brown spots resulting from UV exposure or PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) from an injury or acne scars, for example, can be improved with IPL, RF micro needling or a new clinical topical treatment with Cosmelan and Dermamelan.

IPL is an effective treatment which targets the melanin in the pigmentation directly, causing it to fade over a few sessions. RF micro needling with Sylfirm X is a new method which treats the pigment in a different way but has other benefits for skin rejuvenation from the therapy.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan treatments are intended for more challenging depigmentation issues. These treatments begin with a clinic-applied mask to start the process and continues with topical skin care products applied at home.

For challenging pigmentation issues and melasma.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan by Mesoestetic is a clinical topical treatment specifically formulated to not only depigment the skin at the surface level but also treat the underlying causes. This effectively removes and lightens dark patches, resulting in a brighter, smoother, more even complexion.

IPL – Intense Pulsed Light

Intense Pulsed Light or IPL use a light source that targets and heats the melanin deposit to cause it to darken and flake off. There is very little downtime with this treatment. The initial redness fades within 24-48 hours. Brown spots darken over 4-10 days and flake off. A series of treatments are required for complete results. Suitable for lighter skinned patients.

Sylfirm X Radiofrequency Micro Needling

Sylfirm X is the only RF micro needling device capable of treating pigmentation. This special capability is called Pulsed Wave technology and Sylfirm X treatments for depigmenatation create a therapeutic electromagnetic field in the dermis which targets only abnormal cells. In this way, pigmentation is improved over a series of 4 or more sessions. There is little downtime with this treatment with mild redness fading within 24 hours usually. Optimally, we combine this with a special depigmentation serum which penetrates deeply into the open channels, following the Sylfirm X treatment.
