Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With “social” downtime, you can continue your normal daily activities. However, you may not wish to attend important social events because your face will appear pink/red for 3-5 days.
The Pearl treatment feels like a series of brief pinches. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 representing pain, most patients report the treatment feeling like a 2 or 3. Some patients find the treatment excrutiating, however. We apply a special topical numbing cream prior to treatment which is usually very effective for most patients. In addition, we use a high-speed air chiller which allows for a more comfortable treatment. We will discuss pain-management strategies with you during a free consultation to provide additional options or information about the experience.
Results of smoother skin are apparent immediately after your treated layer of skin has sloughed off, usually day 3-4. Brown spots are often gone completely at this stage. Full results are evident after 60-90 days.
Results are noticeable by day 3 or 4 when the superficial tissue has peeled off, revealing fresh, bright, healthy skin underneath. Make-up may be applied at this time.
Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment.
Yes, patients may choose to have a Pearl treatment combined with other procedures such as Exilis Ultra, LimeLight, Genesis as well as fillers or Botox. When considering combination therapies, be sure to discuss with your practitioner as sequencing the order of procedures is important.
Pearl offers the most effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discoloration without wound care and the lengthy downtime with certain Erbium and CO2 laser procedures.
Compared to today’s fractionated technologies, Pearl’s results are more superficial. For deeper issues like wrinkles and acne scars, fractional laser may be recommended in conjunction with the Pearl. For darker skin types, we recommend Fraxel or a non-laser option of micro-needling for your safety.
Patients with light to medium skin tones and mild to moderate sun damage are the ideal candidates.
