Pearl® Laser Treatment at Westside Laser & Light in SW Calgary

Laser skin resurfacing for smoother skin and a glowing complexion

NEW PEARL-LIKE SKIN IN JUST A FEW DAYS

The Pearl laser treatment revolutionizes the treatment of skin texture, fine lines and sun damage.
The Pearl treatment treats the top layer of the skin to remove sun damage, texture and fine lines. The layer just below the epidermis of the skin receives heat to stimulate collagen growth and a skin tightening effect. The result is new, smoother skin in just a few days.
Pearl is skin rejuvenation at its finest.

The Pearl Procedure

Pearl was designed to offer patients a solution for improving sun damaged and aging skin in a single treatment, without the downtime associated with other resurfacing treatments.
Pearl is an ablative laser and uses a unique wavelength to precisely remove your skin’s outermost layer in a flash. Heat from the treatment is passed down to the dermal layer to stimulate collagen and skin tightening. Skin texture, pore size, fine lines, brown spots are all improved with a single Pearl laser treatment.
Pearl is suitable for lighter skinned patients only.

    PEARL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    What is “social” downtime?

Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With “social” downtime, you can continue your normal daily activities. However, you may not wish to attend important social events because your face will appear pink/red for 3-5 days.

How does a Pearl treatment feel?

The Pearl treatment feels like a series of brief pinches. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 representing pain, most patients report the treatment feeling like a 2 or 3. Some patients find the treatment excrutiating, however. We apply a special topical numbing cream prior to treatment which is usually very effective for most patients. In addition, we use a high-speed air chiller which allows for a more comfortable treatment. We will discuss pain-management strategies with you during a free consultation to provide additional options or information about the experience.

    When will I see results?

Results of smoother skin are apparent immediately after your treated layer of skin has sloughed off, usually day 3-4. Brown spots are often gone completely at this stage. Full results are evident after 60-90 days.

How soon can I wear make-up after a Pearl treatment

Results are noticeable by day 3 or 4 when the superficial tissue has peeled off, revealing fresh, bright, healthy skin underneath. Make-up may be applied at this time.

    How many treatments are recommended?

Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment.

Can Pearl be part of a combination therapy treatment?

Yes, patients may choose to have a Pearl treatment combined with other procedures such as Exilis Ultra, LimeLight, Genesis as well as fillers or Botox. When considering combination therapies, be sure to discuss with your practitioner as sequencing the order of procedures is important.

How does Pearl compare to other laser treatments?

Pearl offers the most effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discoloration without wound care and the lengthy downtime with certain Erbium and CO2 laser procedures.

Compared to today’s fractionated technologies, Pearl’s results are more superficial. For deeper issues like wrinkles and acne scars, fractional laser may be recommended in conjunction with the Pearl. For darker skin types, we recommend Fraxel or a non-laser option of micro-needling for your safety.

Who is a candidate for a Pearl treatment?

Patients with light to medium skin tones and mild to moderate sun damage are the ideal candidates.
